PCG is proud to partner up with Search For The Ultimate Athlete!

Sports are changing as rapidly as they have in decades. It is the age of a new sports athlete, who is comfortable doing adventure races like Primal Quest but also competes in more traditional sporting activities. Today’s great athletes combine all sorts of skills. Their fitness regimens are fine tuned. They are technologically savvy.

In this modern age of sports, questions persist about what makes the greatest athletes in the world.

How do we determine the ultimate athlete? is the ultimate athlete a man or a woman? The answer to these questions will be answered next June in Portland, Oregon with the first ever “Search for the Ultimate Athlete,” competition. The competition will feature 24 of the world’s best athletes, competing in 20 sports and disciplines. Men and women will compete head to head. In the end, one athlete will remain.

Registration will open in the coming weeks. In June, 2010, the athletes will gather in Portland for six days of competition.

Yves Garceau is the man who is bringing the competition to life. Yves grew up Montreal. He pioneered helicopter skiing in Banff, Canada. From there, he turned his attention to tennis. In less than three years after taking up the sport, Yves joined the tennis circuit as a professional. He is a film maker and adventurer.

Yves has traveled the world. Nowhere is there a place in his journeys that is better suited for an ultimate athlete competition than Oregon, the place he calls home.

In Oregon, you can spend your morning skiing in the mountains, playing golf in the afternoon and finishing with surfing in the Pacific Ocean.

The conditions are ideal. Oregon is the perfect place to put the question to the test: Who is the ultimate athlete?

2009 PCG’ers…Thank You!!

- Portland Corporate Games would like to give a big thanks to everyone
that participated in the 2009 games, with a special thanks going out to the
team coordinators who took the time to put everything together for their
respective companies. It’s a big job and without you the games wouldn’t
happen. Thank you to all the volunteers as well that came out to help at
each event and support their companies. Last, but not least all the
participants. Along w/ the team coordinators you make these games happen.
We sincerely appreciate everyone taking the time to come out and represent
his or her company and we hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did. We
look forward to 2010 and beyond!

A Recap Of The 2009 Games

-This years games were highly competitive from the start and saw the leader
board change after every event.  Heading into the closing ceremony the
Corporate Cup was completely up for grabs with Stockamp (311 pts),
Willamette Dental (309 pts) and TriQuint (368 pts) all setting their sights
on the prize. Not far behind lurking was Alpine Mortgage (240) & Orthopedic
& Fracture Clinic (236). With a slew of points still up for grabs (Closing
Ceremony/Silent Auction/Scavenger Hunt Tally/Charitable Cash Donations),
the Corporate Cup was clearly up for grabs.  Even Yahoo & Aloha Dog & Cat
were poised to throw their hat in their ring for a top 3 finish!

When the dust settled we literally had the closest margin for the
respective 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place finish in the history of the games!
TriQuint finishing with 446 points, Stockamp with 431, and Willamette
Dental 421. Respectively each company made a huge push w/ the Auction and
attendance to net 78 points, 120 points and 112 points respectively in
order of the finish above.  Rounding out the field Alpine Mortgage held off
the defending champ OFC for the 4^th place finish with 278 points to
OFC’s 244. Rounding out the field were Yahoo 166, Aloha Dog & Cat 127,
All Pro Blind Cleaners 74, Sendoodles 26 and Providence St. Vincent 8.
Certainly you can see how vital every point is when it comes down to the
final standings, let alone competing in all the events w/ volunteers as
well. Congrats to all of you that participated and to those as well that
won individual medals for respective events. It’s to be commended.

So there you have it; a big hand for TriQuint our 2009 Corporate Games
Champion!  Congratulations to all of the employees that made this
championship effort happen! Hard work and great times paid off! This is
TriQuints first PCG title after taking 3^rd place in 2008, and there is
word OFC is already in preparation to take back the title in 2010. Though
I’m sure Willamette Dental, Yahoo, Alpine Mortgage, Aloha Dog & Cat and
future companies will have something to say about that.
